School Development Plan (S.D.P)

Morden primary school is a one form multi ethnic school reflecting the diversity of our local area. EAL/EMA has significantly increased over the last 5 years and continues to diversify. Our SEN numbers are significantly above National and continue to rise.

There is an increasing number of families who require support from the school and there is high unemployment in the local area. Safeguarding and the need to support vulnerable families through a multi-agency approach has considerably increased in the last 3 years.

Our school development plan follows the structure of the Ofsted judgements.

Section 1: Quality of Education

  • To raise the attainment of Pupil Premium children in reading and maths.
  • To raise the attainment of writing across the school with a particular focus on coherence and grammar.
  • To continue to deveop an outdoor learning approach as an entitlement for all children in all year groups
  • To embed Little Wandle Early Reading SSP throughout Phases 1 and 2.
  • To continue to enrich our current curriculum to ensure every subject reflects the diversity of our school community

Section 2: Behaviour & Attitudes

  • To reduce Persistent Absenteeism through working with parents and other agencies.
  • To further develop harmonious play and lunchtimes.

Section 3: Personal Development

  • To further develop Leadership opportunities for children
  • To work towards silver healthy schools’ status

Section 4: Leadership & Management

  • To formalise the Mental Health and Wellbeing team, identifying key personnel for mental health, wellbeing, referrals and staff wellbeing.
  • To build confidence in subject leaders’ abilities to effectively identify strengths and areas of development in their subject areas.
  • To sustain stabilised leadership with transition of staff members

Section 5: Early Years EYFS

  • To support the creation of a new Nursery team.
  • To ensure that full time Nursery children make expected or better progress.
  • To develop PSE to ensure more children achieving GLD.
  • To ensure observations effectively assess children’s development and next steps.
